YMCA Easter Egg Hunt

March 31st at 1:00 the Peoria YMCA will be hosting an Easter Egg Hunt, Fired Up Craft Corner, Face Painting, Marble Art, and a story book corner. The Easter Bunny is also expected to make an appearance. The event is free but you must pre register! Call (309) 692-7631 for more info.
YMCA Invest in Youth Luncheon on March 29
This year as our speaker we have West Point graduate Captain Scott Smiley. A Ranger and Combat Diver qualified infantryman, he was the Army’s first active duty blind officer and its first blind company commander. On April 6, 2005 he lost use of both eyes when a suicide bomber in Iraq blew himself up thirty meters in front of Scott’s Stryker vehicle. Since that day, Scott Smiley has surfed in Hawaii, skied in Vail, skydived, climbed Mount Rainier, completed a triathlon, and graduated from Duke University with his MBA. He also has an honorary PhD from Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh New York. The Army Times named Captain Smiley its Soldier of the Year in 2007 and in 2008 he won an ESPY as the Best Outdoor Athlete. He recently taught leadership at West Point. He has appeared on all major TV networks and consulted with corporations large and small on leadership and overcoming adversary. Tickets are $50 each.
