Junior League Hosts 2nd Annual Truck Stop Event to Provide Hands-On Education and Fun for the Whole Family

From the Junior League of Peoria

The Junior League of Peoria will host its 2nd annual Truck Stop on Saturday, September 18 from 10-3pm at Northwoods Mall. The one-day event is an opportunity for families throughout Central Illinois to experience fifty unique vehicles they would not typically get to see up close. Some of the vehicles include Army trucks, street sweepers, garbage and fire trucks, hot rods, an ice cream mobile and the Peoria Public Library Bookmobile.

“We were thrilled with the response from the community last year as we planned this first time event,” said Holli Heinz, VP of Fundraising. “Some of the communities’ most wonderful labors and business owners volunteered their time and equipment to provide central Illinois with a unique hands-on opportunity. We are excited to bring back this opportunity for families in 2010.”

In addition to vehicle displays, this event will feature a variety of live demonstrations from the City of Peoria, along with a raffle to win a child's motorized car. Multiple tents staffed by Junior League volunteers will offer additional educational opportunities for children in which to participate.

For tickets or more information about the event, contact the Junior League of Peoria at 309-685-9312.

Admission is $5 for those one year and older. Net proceeds from the event will benefit The Junior League of Peoria and their community projects.
