Sledding, Snow Forts, & Snow Ice Cream

It’s awesome weather for sledding! If your backyard isn’t great for sledding, check out these fun sledding areas. Detweiller Park near the Dogwood Shelter, is a nice, long, hilly favorite. According to some mommy friends, Laura Bradley Park has a small hill near the tennis courts, another near the playground, and an additional steeper one. McNaughton Park is another one in Pekin. Please read this link on sledding safety, and be courteous when waiting for your turn.

UPC Discovery Early Learning Center is a new pre-school opening in the Fall 2011. There will be an Ice Cream Social and Open House on Feb 24.

UPC Discovery engages children’s minds through active and investigative play, children’s hearts through faith-based activities and Godly Play, children’s curiosity through nature activities and inviting nature into the learning environment, and children’s imaginations through music, drama, and the visual arts. Our Reggio-inspired environment encourages child-centered curriculum and invites young children to discover the world in a natural and authentic way.

Pucks and the PlayHouse

Join the Junior League of Peoria and the Peoria Rivermen for the "Pucks and the Playhouse" on January 29th! A portion of each ticket will go to support the Peoria PlayHouse Children's Museum campaign! Tickets include entry to the hockey game, games for kids, raffle prizes, post-game autographs and much more!

Winter Fun Days at Jump Start

During open hours at Jump Start, you can bring your children in while you go shopping, run errands, go to appointments, or just get the kids out of the house for some play time with other children.

We will be offering arts & crafts, storytime, dramatic play, gymnastics, etc. Children must be between the ages of 3 and 6 and potty trained.

Cost is $7/hr
$5/hr for additional family members

This is a drop in activity, but we encourage you to call ahead to ensure availability. 692-5867
