Indoor Play Areas in the Tri-Counties

If the kids need to burn off energy, and you’re looking for indoor activities besides what’s listed on the calendar. Here are some ideas:

Motor Mites, Totally Tots, Morton Play Days, Pekin Play Pals are open play areas for kids 0-5yrs. The cost is minimal.

For kids who want climb and slide, there is Rainbow Playsystems, the Menards Playground in the Garden Center, and Monkey Joe’s of Peoria opening March 4.

• American Society of Civil Engineers Bridge Bust Competition: Bridge building contest for Middle School (Grades 6- 8). 1:30 – 4 p.m.

• Society of Women Engineers: Interactive experiments involving chemistry, aerodynamics, electromagnetism, potential energy, and designing an egg drop, exposing students to a variety of engineering careers.

• Caterpillar Inc.: Interactive displays, Cat machine matching game, color-andbuild-a-machine activity, interactive circuit game, information on engineering disciplines.

• FIRST LEGO League: Interactive demonstration of the robot challenges solved by teams of 9 to 14 year olds with LEGO Mindstorm kits for a tournament. Explanations of the FLL
