Holiday Cards for Troops and Veterans at Fondulac Library

military or a veteran who has served. Greetings will be shared with Citizen SAM for inclusion in
Operation Santa stockings and with the American Red Cross Holiday Mail for Heroes program.
Cards will be provided; all you need to bring is your holiday cheer!

FREE hands-on workshops designed for children ages 5 - 12 offered the 1st Saturday of every month at all The Home Depot stores between 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills, tool safety and instill a sense of pride and accomplishment. All kids get to keep their craft and receive a FREE Kids Workshop Apron, commemorative pin and certificate of achievement.

This 4th of July, the skies about the Peoria and East Peoria Riverfronts will be lit with the largest fireworks display ever seen in Central IL, building upon the new era of cooperation from both sides of the Illinois River. Schedules and locations of daytime activities will be listed on JMP Radio Group station’s websites, as well as those for The Cities of Peoria and East Peoria. Fireworks will begin at approximately 9:30pm and are synchronized to a special soundtrack broadcast on JMP Media Group stations!

Come experience firsthand the daily life of rural Peorians in the mid 19th century! Held the last Sunday of the month: 5/29, 6/26, 7/31, 8/28, 9/25 and 10/30. Admission just $2/person.
Our Pioneer Days themes for 2011 are:
June 26 -- Livestock Care
July 31 -- Children's Games
August 28 -- 19th Century Crafts
September 25 -- 1850s Funeral & Mourning Customs
October 30 -- Winter Harvest
Activities may include hand dipping candles, blacksmithing, school lessons, woodworking, chores, pioneer cemetery tours, hayrides and hands-on children's activities. This is a wonderful opportunity for scout and youth groups to learn about history. There will be presentations each month that highlight that month's theme. Call Sommer Park for more details!
