Take Out
We have trouble going in public no matter how kid-friendly the establishment is - I guess we just have to get used to the embarassment like flying onion rings - getting take out and eating in our house seems to be more convenient - Ming Shee has good Chinese takeout and our little one can graze as this is his usual routine - the little one loves the noodles, crab rangoon, and eggrolls - and of course the fortune cookies :)
Old Chicago
Our family loves Old Chicago's pizza. They have old favorites as well as pizzas you can't find anywhere else. And they have a kids' menu that has enough choices to please even the pickiest eaters. At the downtown location, kids eat free on Mondays after 4pm. It used to be hit-or-miss at that location, due to the bar being so close to the dining room, but once the smoking ban goes into effect at the beginning of the year, it should be a consistently fun place to take your kids for a dinner out.
Perkins
Perkins may not be my favorite choice for food, but it is at the top of my list for kids on Tuesday nights! They have a fantastic assortment of kids' meals, and on Tuesdays they are free! The kids go home with a cookie and balloon. The very best part about Tuesdays is the craft table. An employee sits with the children while they color, make cards, etc... My husband and I almost feel like we are on a date!
Buffalo Wild Wings
I have an energetic, easily distracted, picky two year old. So I'm wary to eat out. Will he eat enough? Will he sit still long enough for me to eat my meal? It's yes to both those questions if I eat at Buffalo Wild Wings. Jude always eats his kids meal: mini corn dogs and smiley faced potatoes. We always get a booth with a video game screen to distract my son (we don't usually play, but my son tries to figure out how it works). My son eats, tries to figure out what the video screen does, eats again, and the cycle continues. Plus it's loud there, so you don't feel like you're disturbing other patrons. So we have happy tummies there.
