The Peoria Symphony Orchestra presents "Ellington Elegy" on Saturday, January 24, 2009, at 8 p.m. in the Theater. Tickets are $35-$71. Call 309-671-1096. As the Duke himself said,“There are two kinds of music: good, and bad!” There will be nothing but the former in this concert, which features the traditional symphony orchestra on stage with a big band, in two contrasting versions of Grieg’s Peer Gynt. They follow with some of Ellington’s greatest works for the symphony orchestra, sharing the spotlight with Bradley’s terrific Jazz Ensemble.
