When we think of sculptural art, we imagine something made by casting metal or carving stone or perhaps modeling in clay. With Art of the Brick we realize that even a child’s toy may provide the inspiration and material for creating imaginative works of art. The 29 sculptural works in this exhibition were created exclusively using the little colorful, rectangular LEGO® bricks popular with children all around the world.

Does your preschooler need a summer morning activity? We are having special themed day camps for children 3-5 years of age. We have set aside special weeks of the summer for your preschooler to attend camps from 9-11:30am. There will be disney camps, Dr. Seuss camps, Ocean adventure and more. Have a fun morning creating art and science based models out of LEGO Bricks. Topics and instructors will vary week to week. Some projects will be inspired by the sculptural art of Nathan Sawaya in the gallery. Other projects will include more traditional model and car building, but all projects will be fun! Old Settlers Days is held the 1st weekend in August in downtown Toulon, IL. It is one of the area's oldest traditions taking place since 1877. The celebration starts off Thursday night with the Miss Teen, Jr. Miss and Little Miss OSA pageant, a BBQ and gospel sing. Friday usually includes a kiddie tractor pull, fish fry and car cruise. Saturday afternoon an ice cream social and parade is followed by live music for all ages. On Sunday, a community Church service is held and an address by the badge honoree is given.

They come from all over the country and the world, this year, from Washington State to the State of Virginia, they all meet in Bath, Illinois to have a lot of fun for two days and they are not alone, each year more and more local, national, and world-wide media follow them here. Even reporters from shows like the CBS Evening News & News Channel 25 have been kissed on the cheek by these amazing flying fish. This year National Geographic and the Discovery Channel were among the media present to capture the fun and festivities of The 5th Annual Redneck Fishing Tournament and it was as much fun as you can imagine, but Betty DeFord and her friends are already working on next year's party, so for more information contact her at 309-546-2545.

Tower Park Fest will be held August 6th & 7th at Tower Park. Food vendors will be on hand selling tasty treats such as pork chops, hot dogs, brats, funnel cakes, onion rings, pulled pork, beef brisket, fries, lemonade shake ups, and snow cones. Adult beverages will also be for sale, and there will be a dunk tank to raise funds for the Peoria Heights Football Team. The Home Depot's Kids Workshops offer useful projects including the creation of toolboxes, fire trucks and mail organizers, as well as more educational projects, such as a window birdhouse, bughouse or Declaration of Independence frame kit.

The workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills and tool safety, while at the same time helping to instill a sense of accomplishment. Additionally, this fun time allows for quality one-on-one time between adults and children.

In addition to the newly constructed project kit, each child receives a kid-sized orange apron, similar to The Home Depot associates' aprons, and an achievement pin.

From project basics to giving your child the opportunity to say, "I built it!", our Build and Grow kid's clinics are a great way to help build confidence! Bring the kids into any Lowe's store and build a FREE wooden project. Each participant also receives a free apron, goggles, a project themed patch, and a certification of merit upon completion of their project.

The clinic is open to the first 50 kids grades 2-5 who sign up and arrive at the store by 10am.

When we think of sculptural art, we imagine something made by casting metal or carving stone or perhaps modeling in clay. With Art of the Brick we realize that even a child’s toy may provide the inspiration and material for creating imaginative works of art. The 29 sculptural works in this exhibition were created exclusively using the little colorful, rectangular LEGO® bricks popular with children all around the world.

From project basics to giving your child the opportunity to say, "I built it!", our Build and Grow kid's clinics are a great way to help build confidence! Bring the kids into any Lowe's store and build a FREE wooden project. Each participant also receives a free apron, goggles, a project themed patch, and a certification of merit upon completion of their project.

The clinic is open to the first 50 kids grades 2-5 who sign up and arrive at the store by 10am.
