Montessori Summer Program 2011

Posted on: Thu, 05/05/2011 - 14:09| By: jmeredithcox

Once again the Montessori Children's House of Peoria is offering our Primary Summer Program. The goal of our Summer Program is to enjoy the season and spend time outdoors, while finding the proper balance between learning and being creative. Traditional summer activities include classroom and outdoor arts and crafts, games, a weekly "water day", and the opportunity to work with the same Montessori materials that are used throughout the year. It is a program that is similar to the regular Primary program with an extra emphasis on time spent outdoors, relaxation, and fun!

Any family is welcome to apply to our Summer Program. A child does not need to be enrolled in our regular yearly program in order to attend the summer sessions.

Montessori Movie Camp 2011

Now in its fifth year of production, the Montessori Moviemaking Camp is a summer camp for aspiring filmmakers, or those who just want to have fun making movies, where they can develop real skills in the art of digital video moviemaking. Students will learn about all facets of movie production in a detailed, creative, and fun environment as they plan, shoot, and edit a digital movie of their own!

The two-week camp is designed for 8-13 year-olds. By the end, each student will have a DVD of all student work!

New students are introduced to the moviemaking process while learning about and practicing such topics as storyboards, camera techniques, computer video editing and DVD creation.
